Why Portable Keyboard?

Why would you prefer a portable keyboard instead of a real acoustic piano? It doesn't look like an acoustic piano! Really? It doesn't sound like an acoustic piano! Or does it? It doesn't feel like an acoustic piano! Are you sure?

Many people have some kind of prejudice when comparing both types of pianos. But the question is: did they do their research? Or did they ever try to compare them both?

If you are one of the people that are still skeptical about portable keyboards, just read on and you may just change your mind.

Do you think that all portable keyboards look awful because they all look like a big piece of cheap plastic? Well you could be surprised at how good some of them look and you may be astounded to see how some digital pianos look. Some digital pianos are absolutely gorgeous and look a lot like acoustic pianos.

Do you think that all portable keyboards don't sound like acoustic pianos? Sure, some may sound like you're playing piano in a closet but if you do a little research you will see that some of them sound so much like the real deal that you can't even hear the difference. You may think that only beginner players will not hear the sound difference but some advanced piano users that have played on acoustic pianos all their lives will praise portable keyboards because the sound quality is so good.

Do you think that all portable keyboards don't feel like the real deal? If you do, you should look into the "Graded Hammer" feature. With the Graded Hammer feature you can see that, just like an acoustic piano, the keys of the lower notes have a heavier touch, while the higher ones react more to lighter playing. Some portable keyboards can even be adjusted to the person's playing style and provide authentic touch in a lightweight instrument.

Still not convinced? Maybe the next additional information will help.

How much money are you willing to spend? If you're on a tight budget you may not be able to afford an acoustic piano, portable keyboards on the other hand can be much less expensive.

How much space do you have? Do you live in a small apartment? Is your house too crowded for a big piano? Well the name portable keyboard says it all, it's portable and if it's portable then it means that it doesn't take much space. Being portable is also very good if you intend on bringing your piano with you to events, to church or anywhere else you would like to play.

Maybe you live in an apartment with neighbours that hear your every move or maybe you want to play the piano when the kids are sleeping and you do not want to disturb them, well you'll be happy to know that portable keyboards also come with an audio jack where you can plug headphones. This way you will be able to play as loud as you want without disturbing anyone.

Another benefit of these keyboards is that they don't need any tuning since they have no strings. Acoustic pianos need to be tuned regularly so this might get very expensive in the long run, and also troublesome.

You may decide on one or the other, but no matter what you choose in the end, the most important thing to remember is to do your research well. Doing your research is the most important thing to do before you buy, this way you will be sure to be happy with the item that you purchased.
